Summary: We are coming to a hard stop deadline FRIDAY. Better be prepared. DC Trip and sponsorships are needed.
The AMIA has been doing a lot for the industry and for those who support it.
We help chapters across the state.
We help keep you informed of what's going on in Juneau.
We fight to keep our industry moving forward.
There is more, and we are preparing to put it all out there for you to see, but today the thing I want to talk about is something that I have been trying to get people to think about, and some are getting it but some are not.
Last year it was decided by the Board that we needed to have everybody renew their annual dues at the same time. We were trying to get people to renew their annual memberships based on when they joined, it was madness from a logistical standpoint. So we made ALL memberships align in February. Everybody now renews in February. There were a few who got in a bit early and there are a number of people who have already renewed, but ALL memberships now renew in February.
Remember that all the memberships are ANNUAL. Everybody renews every year. So that means if you haven't renewed this year, you need to in order to vote in this election. Got a question? Ask. You can always go to the website and under the "JOIN" tab, you can buy a membership. They are good from now until the end of February 2020 and I get to remind you of all this stuff again.
I am going to say this once more so it is crystal clear.
If you have an active membership you're fine. If you haven't bought a membership or renewed with the association in the last 12 months, you won't vote. If your membership is not registered as in good standing by 11:59:59 on Friday night when the nominations close, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A BALLOT, THAT SIMPLE. I know I have been saying this to the point where it's nauseating to you cause it's making me sick to keep saying it but I am now done.
DC TRIP! OK, it is time to give you some details. We are in Washington DC from March 7th until March 9th. We have Young, Murkowski and Sullivan lined up as well as a meeting with the cannabis caucus. I think this is going to be eventful. Remember that this is something that we are organizing for members, again, membership has its privileges. If you are a member the update is coming down the pipe.
I want to draw your attention that there are people who are really seriously involved with the Association who are trying to get to DC and are in need of sponsorship. You don't have to provide everything, but if 20 people kicked in a couple hundred bucks, or if you have a bunch of air miles that you could donate, it would be amazing. This will really be our first opportunity to show the rest of the national organizations that Alaska is in this to win. If you have anything that you want to donate, please contact me , the sooner the better.
